Wake up, work, work, work, go to sleep, repeat. Does that sound familiar? Maybe add in a few meals and perhaps time with your family (if that applies). Our daily schedules can get so routine that we sometimes forget how important it is to maintain a healthy body. We know finding the time can be hard, but it’s making the time that we have to try and do when our days are jam packed with work and other obligations.
We tend to put ourselves and our health on the back burner, which can ultimately lead us to health issues and an overall unhealthy lifestyle. I don’t know about you, but working out is my way to decompress from all the stresses of everyday life.
So, if you’re looking for a way to get some exercise in, why not use your lunch break to get some healthy movement in your daily routine? Check out a few quick exercised you can do during lunch break.
Take the Stairs
Do you work in an office with stairs? If you answered, “yes” then we have great news for you – you can squeeze in 15-30 minutes of stair climbing during your lunch break! Stair climbing is a great mix of cardio and strength training. You work your legs and glutes and also get your heart rate up. It’s a 2-for-1 deal, and you don’t have to pay a dime!
Go for a Walk
Did you know that walking is one of the best exercises you can do? It’s also one you can do anywhere and doesn’t cost a dime! Take a walk around your office building, or if you work from home, take a walk around your neighborhood. You only need to be out for about 25-30 minutes.
Seated Stretches at Your Desk
Can’t escape your office? No need to worry! You can do some stretches at your desk to help loosen your muscles and release any tension in your body. Sitting for long periods and cause your muscles to cramp, which can leave you feeling stiff. Try some of these stretches at your desk during your lunch break.
Get a Room
You read right – get a room! Not like that though. We mean, block off an open conference room in your office and do some yoga! Yoga is an excellent way to release tension, and clear your mind during your break. Try some of these yoga movements during the day.
Go to the Gym
Do you work near a gym, or maybe you even have a gym in your office building? Head there during your lunch break! The good news is that most gyms have a shower, and you can take a quick shower before you head back to the office. A quick gym work out is extremely benefitting – and it gets you out of the office for a little while.
Run a Quick Mile
This may apply more for those who live close to their work, or even work from home. A mile run/jog shouldn’t take longer than 15 minutes, so why not go all out during your lunch break. This leaves you plenty of time to shower and eat before heading back to work.
