Aaaah – lifestyles of the rich and famous. Sometimes we can’t help but read about what’s going on with the Kardashians, or which new guy Taylor Swift is dating. It’s human nature and we are naturally curious beings. However, some of us crave the gossip and can’t get enough inside information about celebrity break ups, Twitter rants, and what they are wearing on the red carpet. However, if you notice yourself firing up the gossip blogs first thing in the morning, and telling all your friends about what’s happening in Hollywood – you may be a perfect candidate to start a career in entertainment blogging. Did we spark your interest? Read on for more information about what it takes to be an entertainment blogger!
Be Confident
Let’s be real for one second – entertainment is a tough industry! The competition is strong and you have to be on your “A game” at all times when talking about celebrity lives. When you’re writing about celebrities and about to break a story, speak with confidence! Act like you know what you’re talking about and speak with authority. They say “fake it til you make it,” and when it comes to celebrities, you have to tell your story like you mean it!
Be Consistent
What good is writing gossip if you only do it a few times each month? You have to write the news stories as soon as they are released. All day. Every day. That’s how much you should be writing, because celebrity gossip is constant. There is always something happening some where in someone’s life – just waiting for you to blog about it! Once you start posting several times each day, every single day, you will start to gain readership. Your readers will trust that you are breaking news to them as it happens each and every day.
Be Original
What good is a celebrity article if everyone else is writing the same thing? Make your work, YOUR work. You want to develop your own voice,so put your own spin on your stories. Throw in your own opinions and commentary. People will want to know what you have to say only if you start saying it!
Be Hungry
No, no. We don’t mean hungry for pizza (although I get like that at least twice per day). I mean be hungry for work. Developing a hunger for getting all the latest stories is key and you have to have a passion for it. Much like my passion for pizza. You have to love it so much that you think about it all the time and you crave the work. There are an endless amount of entertainment blogs out there and if you really want yours to stand out, you have to be hungry for the work.
Be Yourself
Last, but not least, be yourself. The world doesn’t need another Perez Hilton or TMZ. They need YOU and your voice. Don’t change anything about the way you think, feel, or speak to mimic an already existing blogger or blog site out there. No need to re-create the wheel – just be who you are and have fun with it!
