Tips for Staying Healthy on your Business Trips

So, you’re going on a business trip? Whether it’s your first time on a business trip, or you’re a seasoned veteran, there’s never too much you can learn about how to make your trip a little bit healthier. Especially for those who travel frequently, you do learn tips and tricks along the way to make your travels a little easier, safer, and well…cleaner! It’s easy to fall into some unhealthy habits when traveling, especially if your company is paying for the meals and expenses! However, if you’re disciplined, you can keep yourself happy, healthy and well-rested when you take a business trip. Check out some of our tips when traveling for work.

#1: Stay germ-free.

Whether you’re traveling via planes, trains or automobiles, there are germs everywhere you go – but especially airplanes! Keep a bottle of hand-sanitzer with you at all times and keep your hands as clean as you can. If you don’t have a bottle of hand-sanitizer, be sure to wash your hands as often as you can.

#2: Keep the noise level down.

Don’t spend a lot of money on big, bulky headphones. Instead, check out E-A-R soft foam disposable earplugs. We prefer them because they are much less expensive, much less bulky, easier to pack, and you can actually sleep comfortably wearing them! They block out all the noise! We prefer that over a lot of noise any day!

#3: Stay healthy.

This can be the tricky part. Airports and being on the ride can often lead us to developing unhealthy eating habits. If you’re staying strict with your diet, try to find meals high in protein over carbs, because it takes longer to digest and burn, and therefore lasts longer. Always, always, always choose bottled water as your preferred beverage. And, if you just can’t find any good to eat, try for a healthy salad or turkey sandwich. Also, try to work out in the airport. Simple stretching exercises and walking around the airport will help balance out the long sitting hours.

#4: Sanitize…everything.

This goes along with staying germ-free. Don’t just keep your hands clean – keep everything you touch clean! From the tray table in the airplane to the telephone or remote control in your hotel room, sanitize everything you will touch, that you know many hands have been on! Keep some antibacterial wipes with you and wipe before you use it for anything. Then wipe it again.

#5: Avoid the TV.

Last, but not least, try to avoid plopping on the bed and turning the TV on as soon as you get to your hotel. After a long day of traveling, keep yourself moving. Go for a walk, go to the hotel gym, call a loved one, or relax your mind by reading a book. Why waste time staring at the TV screen?
